Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
In the event of us reaching the final tomorrow, children will need to bring a packed lunch and a packed tea into school tomorrow and children will then not need to be in school on Thursday until 10:45am.
Further arrangements will be notified via the latest news section on the website this evening and to you directly upon collection of your children tonight.
Thank you for your support.
We are second to perform today, which means our performance time is approximately 7pm.
For those parents collecting children from the Guildhall, you may collect your child at the end of the first half but only in the interval. However, it is preferred that parents collect at the end of the show, after the awards have been announced, as the children will need to collect their award on-stage.
Rock Challenge will be streaming the result live via Facebook. If you have Facebook account, you can access this via https://www.facebook.com/RockChallenge/
If we are lucky enough to win a place in the final, we will notify all parents and families and send you the arrangements as soon as possible.
During the lovely weather we are experiencing at the moment, please could pupils remember their sun hats, water bottles and apply sun-cream to your child before arriving at school.
Thank you
All families will be invited to a parents’ evening, where you will meet Mrs Howlett, Headteacher and the Early Years teachers and staff. Information will be given out at this event to help your child start school smoothly in September. Free food tasters will also be given out from the Kitchen Team so you and child can start to experience our delicious meals served at school lunchtimes!
Refreshments and a free creche will be provided.

Year 5 visited the Spinnaker Tower yesterday and were treated to clear views across Portsmouth and Gosport. The trip resulted in not only Year 5 having a fantastic day, but also earnt the praise from members of the public. The class teachers received several comments on how polite and respectful the children were.
Positive feedback like this has a huge impact on the children, the staff and the school as a whole. Well done to Year 5 for extending our school values throughout the community and keep up the positive attitude and behaviour.
Thanks to the amazing efforts of the PTA and all supporters of Newtown C of E Primary School, the PTA has already raised a massive £1,904.38 up to and including the Easter Egg Hunt.
Thank you so much to all involved. For more information on future fundraising events please see the PTA pages on this website, under the community section.
It is World Downs Syndrome Day on Wednesday 21st March. In association with Portsmouth Downs Syndrome Association we would like to raise awareness of the charity and help to spread the positive message about Downs Syndrome to a much wider audience as possible.
Therefore, as a school we will be joining other organisations throughout the world by wearing Lots of Socks! as part of the World Downs Syndrome Day Lots of Socks initiative. On Wednesday, we would like all children and staff to wear brightly coloured socks, long socks, printed socks, 1 sock, mismatched socks, even three socks for three chromosomes!
Lets all join together to wear our Lots of Socks with pride and to help spread the positive message about Downs Syndrome.
Should we continue to have significant snowfall or dangerous icy conditions this afternoon and overnight, we will inform all parents of any potential school closure by 7:30am via a parent mail message and a notice will be placed onto the school gates, on the school website and the local radio stations will be informed.
Hampshire County Council will also be notified.
Otherwise the school will remain open and operate as normal.
On Friday 9th March, the pupils and staff in Dragonflies and Grasshoppers invited Mummys to
come and join them for an afternoon of activities, story time and yummy cakes decorated by the
children to celebrate Mothering Sunday.
Thank you to all the parents who came. We hope you enjoyed it and had a lovely Mother’s Day.
Unfortunately it has been necessary to rearrange the Year 2 SATS meeting which was due to take place this Thursday. This meeting for all Year 2 parents will now take place on Thursday 22nd March at either 3:15pm or 5:15pm. Parents can choose which session they wish to attend. We look forward to seeing all year 2 parents there.
