The Education Leader at Goodwood Home Farm in Chichester, where Year R visited yesterday, today praised the children for their listening, respect for the animals and behaviour for learning. They were so impressed with our school and we are all so proud of the children. Everyone had a wonderful day!
What a great day we had yesterday learning even more about equality. We are proud to be a #nooutsiders school. Thank you Andrew Moffat MBE for another great day with our children and staff:
As a Church of England school, we promote the Christian ethos values of Love, Courage and Friendship. We welcome and value everyone in our school, celebrating and valuing our differences and our uniqueness.
To ensure that our children are taught to live out these values and to support our PDL curriculum, the school has adopted the ‘No Outsiders: Everyone Different, Everyone Welcome' text based approach, through which our children learn about equality and diversity, from Foundation Stage to Year 6.
This scheme was created by Andrew Moffat MBE, who was nominated for the Global Teacher Prize in 2018-19. The ‘No Outsiders’ vision is ‘inclusive education, promoting community cohesion to prepare young people and adults for life as global citizens.’
No Outsiders involves the use of age appropriate storybooks to teach about the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010. At Newtown C of E Primary School, we strive to ensure that our pupils are surrounded by a consistent message:
There are no outsiders here;
Everyone is different;
We like being different;
We are all equal in our difference;
I can get along with you even if we are different;
We live in the U.K., our British values support this and the law says this too.
Parents and Carers are very welcome to call in to see your child’s class teacher to discuss this approach and to view the picture books we use for this. A full book list will be added to the school website. For more information about ‘No Outsiders’ please visit the website https://no-outsiders.com/
What a wonderful day we had taking part in our annual Sports Day on the 5th June 2024.
Thank you to all family members that came to support and who joined us for the picnic lunch.
We even enjoyed a special flypast!
