  • Winner of Best School 2018!

    Tue 11 Dec 2018

Since becoming Hampshire’s first official ‘Happy School’ this year, we have continued to reflect on how this ethos can help improve the school and the local community.

We were therefore delighted last Monday, when Mrs Howlett collected the award for Best School at The News’ We Can Do It! awards for the impact that of our positive ethos values and the Happy School legacy has had on our school and our community.

The staff and students have not only been creating positive vibes in the classroom, but also going out into the local community and engaging with as many people as possible.

Headteacher Mrs Howlett told the audience at the glittering awards ceremony, “To win the award for Best School is really exciting. It is down to the changes that the staff and children have made to their daily lives – making an effort to be happier and more positive – and I am so proud of every single one of them. We decided to work towards the Happy School accreditation because we felt it would be nice to build strong links with the local community, and that is exactly what has happened.”

“It is not just about getting a piece of paper though, it is always and will always be about creating an environment at the school that our children can take pride in. Watching the school’s transformation has been incredible, from keeping an eye on their own wellbeing to being there for their friends and others at the school.”

Well done Newtown C of E Primary School!
