  • Important COVID-19 Guidance 24 February - 1 April

    Fri 25 Feb 2022

On 21 February 2022 the Prime Minister set out the next phase of the Government’s COVID-19 response.

Our priority, at Newtown C of E Primary School, has always been and continues to be to keep everyone safe.

At this time, we still need to be able to operationally run and to staff the school. Therefore, staff and children will continue to be asked to isolate if they test positive.

If your child or if any staff member has symptoms of COVID-19, we would recommend booking a free PCR test at the earliest opportunity.

Isolation can be for up to 10 days from when symptoms start. However many people will no longer be infectious to others after 5 days and if two LFD tests on day 5 and day 6 are negative, isolation can stop on the 6th day. Remote learning will be provided for any child who tests positive for COVID-19 and it is expected that children complete the work set when well enough to do so.

We will continue to risk assess and if needed put further contingency measures in place.

This information is subject to change. We are currently awaiting guidance from Hampshire County Council and when we do receive any further information, which is likely to be Monday, we will communicate this to you in a timely manner as always.

We do hope you have all had a relaxing half term break and we look forward to seeing all the children back at school on Monday morning.

  • School closure: 18 February 2022

    Fri 18 Feb 2022

Due to the red weather alert now in place for Hampshire, we have been advised by Hampshire County Council to close the school.

Therefore the school site will remain closed to all pupils, staff and visitors.

Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone after half term on Monday 28 February 2022.

  • 100% Attendance Winner

    Wed 09 Feb 2022

Congratulations to Savannah who won the 100% Attendance Award at the end of last term - a family dinner voucher for the Sailmaker. Savannah and her family wanted to share that she was very happy at “buying the whole family dinner”!

The family wanted to say, "Thank you so much for the voucher, it was lovely to receive and a great incentive. It was nice to go out as a family, something we have not done for a long time."

Congratulations again Savannah! Mrs Howlett looks forward to rewarding another child and their family at the end of this term.
