We gratefully took delivery this morning of a Defibrilation machine, which has been kindly donated by the charity The Big Match. Elizabeth Humphries from the Big Match, presented Mrs Howlett, Headteacher with this lifesaving equipment.

Representatives from the School Council were part of the presentation as the School Council has pledged to 'pay it forward' and help fundraise for the charity so other schools can receive this equipment in the future.

Today, we said goodbye and farewell to Mrs Holloway who has finished working at Newtown to become a full-time Mummy to baby Nora.

Mrs Holloway was invited to a special Collective Worship to thank her for all she has done for our school, the pupils and staff. Cards were presented from each class and messages of thanks were displayed in a special video.

Mrs Holloway will continue to always be a part of our Newtown family.

  • Diversity Day - 27th June

    Thu 16 Jun 2022

On 27th June we are holding a 'Diversity Day'. We are tying this day in with National Refugee Day, where we will recognise the strength and courage faced by refugees. We are using this day to celebrate and find out more about the rich diverse community in which we live in.

As a school, we want to use this time to celebrate the similarities and differences between ourselves. During the day, we will be finding out more information about the different cultures, religions and beliefs which make up our school community. We also want to find out more about specific times of year with regards to key events and/or celebrations. We will also be learning about stories, songs, artwork, food, drink specific to different cultures.

As always, we want like our families to get involved and we value your input. If you have information/stories to share about key celebrations, food, events, clothing, then we would like you to come into school to share this with us. Please liaise directly with the class teacher if you would like to attend and the time you would like to come in. On the day, if you come to the main school office to sign in, a member of the team will then show you to your child's class. We looking forward to seeing you on 27th June.

  • Queen's Green Canopy

    Fri 10 Jun 2022

Following on from our Platinum Jubilee celebrations at the end of last half term, this week the School Council alongside Mrs Howlett, Headteacher; Mrs Wright, Chair of Governors and Mrs Westerby, Vice-Chair of Governors and Local Councillor, planted a tree to commemorate HM The Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

The tree chosen is a variety of cherry, aptly named Regina, meaning ‘reigning Queen’. Newtown C of E Primary School will now register this tree as part of the Queens Green Canopy legacy spearheaded by the Woodland Trust.
