Newtown C of E Primary School organised a charity awareness and fundraiser for MacMillan Cancer and Bone Cancer Research Trust in memory of Mrs Beames' son Jack who tragically passed away in February 2024.
The entire school community wore blue, as this was Jack’s favourite colour and gathered on the school field to create a blue heart in memory of Jack Beames, to raise awareness of the charities support and work. Mrs Howlett led a Collective Worship on the importance of charity and each child donated at least £1 for the privilege of not wearing school uniform on this day. Parents and families also donated and bought cakes and goodies at our bake sale at the end of the school day.
We are delighted to be able to announce that so far the total raised is £1349.76 and this will still increase due to another bake sale taking place today. The total amount raised will be split equally between the two charities in memory of Jack. Mr and Mrs Beames have also match-funded the amount given to the Bone Cancer Awareness Trust.
