Yesterday Year 6 visited the Search Museum in Gosport.
They talked about Charles Darwin and his discoveries in the Galapagos Island whilst voyaging on HMS Beagle. The children had the opportunity to draw animals and think about how the animals' features ensure that they are adapted to their environment. They also looked at different finches and their beak shapes, considering how the shape of their beak suits the type of the food that they at - just like Darwin would have done.
Finally they also looked at some fossils are tried to find the modern equivalent, for example how a mammoth tooth looks similar to an elephant tooth.
The children were fantastic representatives for the school and Miss Wandless and Mrs Martin were very impressed with the children's inquisitiveness and scientific thinking.
