As adults in the UK vote in a general election to choose a government this week, Newtown C of E Primary School is learning how democracy works, and why it matters, by taking part in an election of their own.
Today in collective worship, Mrs Howlett has spoken with the children about British values and linking this to the general election. On Thursday, the children will be voting to decide which of the following will happen on Friday:
1. 20 minutes extra play or
2. Snack of your choice at breaktime (no nuts) or
3. Non-uniform day
Once the votes have been counted, the winning treat will be communicated to parents at the end of the day on Thursday, ready for Friday.
