Dinner Menu - 2026-2027

HCL are the appointed school caterers for Newtown CofE Primary School, and are determined to offer you and your child an excellent service, ensuring every child enjoys their meal and has the energy to study and learn in the afternoon.

SchoolGrid Account

If you would like your child to have school meals, you will need a SchoolGrid account.

Please provide the school office with your email address to activate an account. You will then receive an email from SchoolGrid, our software providers, with all of your necessary login details. By accessing SchoolGrid online you will be able to pre order meals, view recipes, allergens, ingredients and make payments.

Allergies

If you are finding difficulties ticking the allergen information you need, please contact Customer Care and we will happily make arrangements to accommodate your child’s individual needs. Payments The cost of a school dinner will be £3.00 per day (£15.00 per week). Online Card Payment - A card payment can be made online through your SchoolGrid account, please log on and select [Account] - [Pay by card] where on screen prompts will assist in taking payment. Telephone Card Payment - Our Customer Care team is available 8.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday to take a card payment for your account on 01942 707709. The minimum payment amount we can accept over the phone is £10.

 

Free School Meals

Eligibility

Free school meals are available to parents/guardians who are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190 as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs

No other benefits qualify for free school meals

Applying for Free School Meals

There is a new online service, where you can check your own eligibility for free school meals, or you can check on behalf of someone else.

To complete a check you will need the following information for yourself, or the person you are checking on behalf of:

  • Name, home address and email address
  • National Insurance Number or National Asylum Service reference number
  • Child’s name, date of birth and school
