Starting School with Newtown C of E Primary School in September 2021


Welcome to Year R at Newtown C of E Primary School!


If you have been notified by Hampshire County Council that your child have received a place at our school in September 2021, we are delighted that you have chosen Newtown C of E Primary School to begin your child's educational journey. 


We do hope you have received your welcome pack and registration forms. If these haven't arrived, please contact the school office and we will send you a duplicate pack.



Due to the impact of COVID-19 on the recent Ready Steady School Programme of transition events, we would like to invite you to a rearranged GRAND WELCOME EVENT on Wednesday 8th September 2021 between 4pm-5pm.


At this event, there will be presentations by Mrs. Howlett, Headteacher, and the Year R staff team, led by Mrs. Furlonger, EYFS Learning Leader. Come along as a family and also meet the Senior Leadership Team and key school staff.


Information stalls will be manned by the School Nursing Team, Gosport Discovery Centre and Skoolkit (uniform). There will be creche facilities at this event. Families will receive a tour of the school and there will be food tasters available for you to enjoy! Refreshments will also be provided.

Further to the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 14th June that the move to Step 4 will not now take place until July 19th, we have received updated guidance from the Department for Education and the following updates to transition programme have had to be made as follows: (Changes in RED)

Registration and Enrolment 


Thank you to all those families who have provided enrolment evidence of both the address used in your application and your child’s DoB (this is usually your child’s birth certificate or passport and a bank statement or utility bill). If you have not already done so, please photograph this evidence and email the documents to  Please also either post or email a copy of your child’s completed registration form and all other forms within your enrolment pack to the school office. Alternatively, you can bring all these documents to the first event when you collect your child’s chatterbag of goodies.


If your child has additional needs, please call the school office to arrange a telephone appointment with Mrs. Watson, EYFS Learning Leader, to discuss your child’s needs ready for September.
