The Parent Forum is a half-termly meeting with parents/carers which Mrs. Howlett and Mrs. Whittle lead, to gain a valuable insight and perspective from Parents and Carers on a variety of topics.
The last meeting was held on 24th September 2021 and the items discussed were as follows:
Centred on the pros and cons. Parents generally felt it could cause additional pressures, but there should be a homework emphasis on reading and basic number skills. This feedback aligns with other feedback given at our meet the teacher evenings. Parents enjoyed the project learning and therefore we have taken all these points on board as part of our Home Learning relaunch which was sent to all parents this week.
Secondary School preparation
Parents asked how they can best prepare their child for secondary school. Tips and preparation points were given by Mrs. Howlett and Mrs. Whittle and the Year 6 team will shortly be communicating these ideas with the children and the Year 6 parents.
Communication board for parents
The school uses various communication tools to communicate with parents including, ParentMail, email, text messages, newsletters, Facebook and the website. Mrs. Howlett will ensure the Parent Communication board at the front of the school is regularly updated.
Newtown fundraising opportunities
Fundraising events were discussed and we will be holding our next parent forum as part of our Newtown Fundraising Crew meeting on 3rd November at 9am and 5th November at 2pm. Therefore we would also like to invite those parents/carers that expressed an interest in being a part of the Newtown Fundraising team to also attend.
