Welcome to Year 4!
Year 4 – Miss Crapper and Miss Whyley
Year 4 are currently studying the topic ‘Coco Bean to Chocolate Bar’. Our topic will explore Fairtrade, learning all about its positive effect across the world. The children kick-started the project by using the internet, posters and books to find out everything they could about ‘Fairtrade’.
In English, we will be using this information to create a Fairtrade poster to share and spread the message of Fairtrade.
In Guided Reading, we are reading Nicola Davies’ ‘Rubbish Town Hero’, a story which explores the themes of poverty, relationships and family. The children are thoroughly enjoying reading about characters who lead very different lives to their own.
Our science topic this half term will be ‘Living things and their habitats’. The children will learn to recognise and group living things in a variety of ways and identify and name a variety of living things in their local area.
We will continue having weekly Music sessions with Hampshire Listen to Me. This term we will be learning to play the keyboard!
In one of our two weekly PE slots, Portsmouth Football Club is coming in to bring lots of fun to our PE lessons. In indoor PE, we have just begun a new area of learning following our recent dance topic.
All this will happen in conjunction with our daily maths lessons.
