Welcome to Year 2!
Year 2 – Mrs Wilkie and Miss Murray
In Year 2 we have been completing a project called Jurassic Jaws. We have been studying dinosaurs that are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. We have been dinosaur dentists and have look at the teeth different dinosaurs have and using our knowledge of teeth to work out what different species of dinosaurs ate. We also researched a dinosaur of our choice and created a fact file for our friends to read.
DT was fun, as we made dinosaur nests out of chocolate, shredded wheat and syrup. They were delicious! We wrote notes as we made them so we could use them in our English work.
During our Geography lessons we have studied the 7 continents of the world and looked at the Pangea of the word in the Jurassic period.
In History we are looking forward to studying and then writing about the life of Mary Anning. Mary’s fossil findings enabled scientist to understand dinosaurs in greater depth.
In English we wrote instructions to explain how to make dinosaur nests. We used temporal conjunctions, numbered bullets and imperative verbs. We are looking forward to writing a narrative based on the story Tyrannosaurus Drip. We used expanded noun phrases, exclamations and conjunctions in our writing.
